I've read about these and am willing to try it on my own if they are not able to. Do you have any idea on which poultice to try? I've also seen a DuPont compound that has success (assuming its blooming green). So far, I tried leaving corn starch on overnight (no result) and a paste of hydrogen peroxide and flour, though I wasn't gutsy enough to leave it on overnight. Just an hour. I'm sure that's why that one did not work. I'm holding out hope they can find something, but want to be prepared for the worst. I'm also wondering if I can be compensated in some way, or if this is just the nature of natural stones?

did you notice it on the stone when you selected the slab? sometimes the poultice has to be applied a few times. you should set it on the stone and leave it on for 24 hours, with plastic wrap over it. we use a little homemade poultice, like you said you have tried.

I appreciate your reply. There were golden undertones in some areas, but that yellow is pretty bright relative to the rest of the counter and looks unnatural, in my opinion (reminds me of the shade of an energy drink). Apparently the slab I selected had issues, so they needed to select a different one from the bundle. They said there were some cracks with the entire bundle, so they said they needed to use portions of two slabs to find good materials. In hindsight, I should have picked a different granite, but we were afraid of the delay it might cause in an already long kitchen reno with two kiddos running around. While the granite is beautiful, I'm afraid of how it will fare in the future. Would you recommend the Hydrogen Peroxide mix first, or trying the DuPont solution? Again, many thanks!

I had a similar problem and used the poultice. I had to do it twice but it worked! You can get a recipe online but there are also ready made products available online. Easy and simple but don't skip any steps and let it dry completely. Good luck. Nice to have this trick as its good for grease and coffee too.

I used bleach and covered with saran wrap over night, worked great!

We tried a couple homemade poultices, but they didn't seem to make much of a difference. In hindsight, we may not have left them on long enough. We ended up buying and using the StoneTech Oil Stain Remover. I applied it twice for several hours (following the directions) and the stain is now very, very faint. I would recommend it.
