Will you have a lot of natural light? If you do then it shouldn't be to dark. Personally, I love dark floors and the contrast cream cabinets. Do you have pets? Very dark floors tend to show more dust and or pet hair ect. but they are beautiful! (and worth the extra dust) =) Either way easy to clean with a quick push of a swifter.

I have dogs, leaning towards cream with maybe dark island. Keep going back and forth. I hope it has a lot of light but there will be a porch across the back

Nix the dark floors unless you have a maid or love cleaning as they show all the dirt. Go with a medium tone wood as it will work with most anything.

I have dark tile floors, they don't show a lot of dirt although they do get dirty. They are floors after all.

Just friendly advice. I remodeled a kitchen. Dark & dark. Looked great. Function was less than perfect. Floors got scratched from putting appliances in (even with protective covering). They also got gouged from items being dropped on floor. But, what was the worst was keeping the floors clean and without streaks. You can see everything! They get dusty after couple of days. And stuff got stuck between the boards.
