Many times when the service people are trouble shooting problems with a tractor they will jump out the seat switch. This removes the bouncing of a person on the seat in their trouble shooting equation.

When a John Deere Select Series LT/GT (X5xx and X3xx) WILL back up while mowing or snow blowing without shutting off, the reverse safety switch is out of adjustment.

If you look under the RH floorboard you'll see the gray switch plunger being moved when you push on the REVERSE pedal. When you loosen the 6mm bolt (10mm head) that holds the gray switch you can make the adjustment. Feel around with your finger above the switch platform and you'll find the bolt head. You can see the thread of the bolt and adjustment slot from below.

If the switch is adjusted to the rear of the slot the engine will NOT shut off when backing up, which is NOT proper operation.

You will need to adjust the switch in the slot so the reverse pedal pushes on the switch to correct that problem.

I'd like to learn how to bypass the RIO control which shuts the mower deck down when I hit the reverse pedal. Another safety feature on all the newer JD garden tractors.

I located the switch associated with the reversing pedal inboard and below the right side floor board.

I observed how the switch plunger would be depressed when pushing on the reverse pedal.

The switch is mounted to a cad plated angle bracket. This bracket is bolted to a frame member with the metric fastening you mentioned. If I loosen that bolt and slide the switch back toward the rear of the machine it will be disengaged from the action of the reverse pedal. Then tighten down in that position.

Is that the condition I want to keep the RIO dashboard switch from disengaging the mower blades when going in reverse?
