How abut sillouette blinds...2 for that door? I do not think it would look funny to have drapes pull to one side....you could even use sheer drapery..they give privacy and let in some light.

Need to see the right side of the doors for a true idea of how it will work. You could do a large wooden roll shade.

Hi Ginger, I think the right product you may consider is the Hunter Douglas Vertiglide, in the single side to side or the double option, it allows you to have a sheer on one side and privacy on the other side. They show a Duette here but it can also be a Honeycomb shade. Love this product!

I know you've said no to vertical blinds, but take a look at Luminaires, by Hunter Douglas. The vertical slats are enveloped in and connected together with fabric, so when the slats are open, you get a sheer curtain effect, and when closed, privacy. Otherwise, you need to do what works best in your space, and if that's a curtain on one side, do it.

a one sided drape is fine as long as your movable door panel is what gets uncovered first. in fact it would be superior to a center draw. this way you only would have to open it part way to go in and out on a hot day when you want drapes for shade.

i second rachuba on vertical blinds, too, they've come a long way. measure them to mount near the ceiling instead of on the upper casing and they'll look more modern as well.

Thanks for all of your comments. Here's a photo with some better lighting. It shows more of the right side of the door. I think the problem with inside mounting any kind of blind or shade will be the door handle, which sticks out quite a bit and may interfere with how they should hang.

Consider doors with blinds between the glass. Out of the way, no cleaning, privacy, light. And some color choice. Drapery woul then be unnecessary.

You can always add stationary side panels, and a translucent film to the window itself. You'll get privacy without the bulk of a blind or shade. The panels add decor. Go on line for films, not the big box stores. You don't want a pattern, more a frosted look. Something that lets in light but highly distorts anything seen through it. They are very easy to apply, and are not permanent.
