Here is mine..

In India Jujube grows wild. ( still does..). It is known as "Ber"

The wild fruits are kinda marble sized but pretty sweet when they are orange- red. the green ones are a bit sour but I loved those too.

The thorns are a big deterrent, but not if you are determined to get them.

A scratch on your arm is worth a few sweet jujube fruits.

Ha ha. That was when i was very young.. Now, not so much!!!

You could also buy them from street vendors.. not too expensive..

The current cultivars are bred for size and sweetness.

I know 2 of them that I like very much.

One is called " Ajmeri" ... big elongated and stout fruit ( orange red when ripe).

The other is "Chameli" smaller and pointed ( orange red when ripe).

Both are very sweet and available in the months of Dec- February and maybe march..

The small globe fruits are tasty!!! That seems to be the wild one in India, and thorny too!!

Honey Jar is good. Its sweet. I didn't like Li somuch. They don't have much juice.

I see there is a Shanxi LI. IT looks like the "gola" ber in India. Pretty tasty, meaty, but sometimes a bit mouth puckering :-)

Chinese jujubes doesn't taste like indian jujube. Indian jujube has some sour/ting in taste. Chinese jujubes are sweet.

You can get plants anytime. If you are trying to buy bare roots, you have to plant them in Jan
