does a bed need to be centered on a wall?

in my master bedroom, which is shaped like a rectangle, I only have one solid wall (a long side of the rectangle) to put my bed . I am thinking about placing the bed to one side of the long wall so I have more room to add seating on the opposite end of the room . I am not sure if this will make the room feel off balanced. interested in opinions as most images on this site have the bed centered from what I can tell . thanks!
