Hi, you've done a great job so far with your upholstery color and style choices. Love the sectional and chair and it goes so well with the gorgeous rug. There's something however that looks off with the layout in general. It looks as if this space was meant to be 2 smaller areas vs. 1 larger area? This is just based on the window configuration and chandelier placement.

First, can we see photos of the wall/area that the sectional is facing?

Also, have you tried the sectional centered at the front (?) window wall or wall where the chair is now? Or even try sliding the sectional over either to the right or left? If shifted toward the right, it can be centered under a "solid" wall with artwork above. If to the left, it looks like it can be centered to the windows and chandelier?

I think once we see what the room looks like overall, that can help figure out if this is your best arrangement and its finishing details.

Your furniture and rug are splendid! I agree that maybe there is a better furniture placement. Also think the chandelier is off. Maybe some simple sheer curtains and I'm sure those smarter than I will suggest how to better hang your lovely artwork. To me they seem a bit small for the walls so maybe just a different grouping of them.

Crown molding would be great also if u have the budget

Lovely room, beautiful color choices. Instead of the sofa table at that front window I would change it a long bench with fold our drawers for shoe storage. Look for as wide from the wicker basket to almost the corner, that should fill that area so it doesn't look so empty. Move the 2 pictures on the sectional wall so that they are actually over the sofa. I really think windows need some kind of treatment to soften them. And lastly an accent color maybe yellow or red just to liven things up a bit.

What is the sofa facing?

I love the colors. I think the chandelier is not right. I think it is too small, and it is not centered in room. I don't like the console table in the window. I think fabric roman shades would look spectacular. The three blue prints need to be together on the one wall.

I would put a huge plant in the corner, maybe a fig in a wicker basket. I also think the pictures aren't arranged correctly, especially the two above the L shaped sofa. I think it may be better to put the two pictures above the single chair and the other picture above the L shaped sofa. Natural linen curtains would look lovely and replace chandelier with a huge linen drum shade. Just my thoughts.

I think maybe too you need some height with your furniture. I bought a nice secretary for something like $75 - or if you like an etagere or grandfather's clock, bookcase, etc.

You need a side table beside the sectional. Once you add drapery, you will notice the room will feel more finished. Also, consider reconfiguring the art work and remember it is not a must to have art on every wall. Hope this helps.

Room is gorgeous, but that corner is seriously unbalanced. If you don't want to look at a new furniture arrangement, at least do something like this:

As to the corner in Photo No. 1, I would suggest you take down the small blue picture and put it where you have the left blue picture above the sectional. Then, move the picture you originally had on the left still further left so that the three pictures are centered above the sectional. Then, I believe you should get large, square or rectangular mirrors in matching frames and put one on each side of the front window. Of course, you will need to find another home for the three small mirrors by the door. Since much of the corner still is left vacant, I would suggest you get a tall, leafy potted plant such as a rubber plant, banana tree, philodendron, or ivy on a fairly tall lattice, and place this plant in the corner. I love all the blue in the room and the snowy white walls for contrast.

I agree with another poster that crown molding would be great. If you cannot afford it, you still can put white-painted quarter-round trim where the wall meets the ceiling. Then, about six to eight inches below this, place a fairly thin trim, about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick and one to two inches wide, around the room. In the intervening wall space, paint a blue that harmonizes with the blue in the upholstery. This will give the same effect as a full crown molding but will cost less. I also agree that the chandelier is a bit small. Perhaps you can find one that matches and put each one an equal distance from the center of the ceiling. Altogether you have a beautiful room and a lovely color scheme.

Upon looking at your last photo, you would want the bottom of the trim I suggested to clear the top edge of the wall register/vent. So, the space between the trim may not be as much as six or eight inches, but there still is enough room to make a beautiful accent.

I really meant what I said about your sitting room. Its very pretty and I feel like it would be very comfortable and I would really enjoy being in that room. That is the barometer aside from any design principals by which I measure a space I see on the flat computer monitor. If it draws me in and I feel like I want to walk into the screen, then I know something special is going on and the HOUZZ member deserves good advice and service!

Last but, not least, I wanted you to know that I have also, gotten New Zealand wool rugs from Overstock a couple of times for clients and those were successful purchases and I would do again.
