I like the first one better.

I like the first one better. I like it because unless it's going on an island the piece will be laid out on your counter in 24" long strips (basically) and the lines of the first one have an even distribution throughout. I just think it will look more cohesive unlike the second one. JMHO.

I appreciate the feedback. I should have provided a bit more detail! The piece will be going on an island which has a sink cut out. The permitter countertops will be something different, very plain! Any and all input is appreciated!

I prefer the veining in the first one. Both are very pretty! Darker, solid perimeter counters will really set it off. What color are your cabinets?

I have a love for Caesarstone Blue Lagos for solid, neutral counters- it would look great on your perimeters, with your White Macaubas.

I'm looking for the exact same quartzite. The first one is my favorite also. Wish I had those two to choose between! Right now there is a limited selection in Austin, TX where I live. Where are you!

I purposely skipped reading the other replies which may influence me, but I like the first one.

Beautiful choices. I like the linear quality of the first one.... but the second could lend some interest depending on size/layout of the island.

Thank you for all of your input. I am in Ontario. Our cabinets will be a dark stain. Almost black but not quite that dark. Its called Lunar. I would also appreciate any insight on what to do with the perimeter countertops too!

Another vote for 1. Both beautiful!

For an island installation, I much prefer the second one. An island would show off the whole slab, and in that case, I think the variations in the second slab are a really nice addition. I like that one extra-dark line at the top, and I particularly like the situation in the bottom half of the slab where two groups of lines run into each other and one group of lines ends up overlapping the other group. And how the lines are generally arching in different directions throughout the slab -- not just going straight across.

I think the second one is stunning to be used as a whole piece. The first is also amazing but I think no 2 is so unique

Because it's for an island and you're planning something simple for the perimeter, I definitely think the second one is a better choice for the island. So much more interesting. Remember right now you're seeing it vertical so it appears more busy than it will when it's horizontal.
