Please-I need help with windows! This is for a new construction, casement style with sdl's. I was thinking of wood-clad windows, but is fiberglass better? The companies we were considering;

Marvin Integrity-although I keep reading some bad reviews

Marvin ultimate-but probably too expensive

Wasco

windsor

kolbe

Any recommendations?

Marvin Ultimate is the best of the bunch. Is fiberglass better? I think so, but others will say that clad is the way the route to take. If you are considering vinyl - Okna and Surise (Vanguard or Restorations) are the two of the best ones to consider. Both of these two products are readily available in the Chicago area.

Neither are any pro's idea of a quality window, I would cross them off the list. Really as bpchill said the answer will lie in the material you want to use. As far as pro reviews for Integrity I would be interested in know where you read them. They are a good window maybe not the best but still a dam good window.

Good advice above. If you go wood, both Marvin lines are very good, as is Kolbe. If a real wood interior is not at the top of your priority list, premium vinyl is a compelling option as well... I assume that you are considering vinyl given the Wasco reference?
