We are in the process of finishing a side entrance/ laundry area combination that transitions directly into an L shaped kitchen with pantry area. There is no physical ending of one room, beginning of another except for a "step up "to another level. I'd like to divide the rooms using color changes. However, traditionally it seems as though there is a "rule" that the colors between these rooms should flow. My question is : Would it look terrible to do the entrance room in a neutral with red closet doors and patterned drapes as done in Sarah Richardsons Farmhouse remodel ( see her entry) and transition directly into a color scheme of yellow and gray , as in her Farmhouse kitchen? I can add photos if necessary. Thanks for any help.
