Nope, nothing that would last. What brand hardware maybe you can get the backset with the correct finish plate? If it were one you could try a black sharpie but for 11, plus I don't believe it would hold up long term and probably end up looking worse in short order. Other side is depending on the brand (if it is an lesser expensive import) that may be the only color they offer. The bolt itself will never be the aged bronze color so I would probably leave it myself.

Schlage provides two different latch plates with their aged bronze lever
sets. Each set contains an aged bronze piece and a shiny steel piece.
The installer used the shiny steel piece because it's easier to install. It requires a drilled
(versus chiseled) hole. I personally think that shiny steel on an aged
bronze door is like having one blackwall tire on a car that has 3
whitewall tires.

Schlage seems to have developed a novel way of increasing profitability by use of this cheapy door latch. I must admit, the silver "grommet" or faceplate looks like a reject piece. It's not at all well-fashioned. I wonder if those who purchase black or brass hardware receive the same silver substitute.

If this is the "F" series I would count on it. Those types of backsets are rarely seen on the "A" series and better. At least it's not plastic.....

After Web browsing the "F" series from Schlage, it's clear that's exactly that the door company used -- the cheapest of options without informing me. Hell, I would have paid $25 more per door for a decent fix! What can I do to make this look better or should I ignore it for 6 months and see if I can live with it? I can trust the installers to chisel the door to accommodate a new bronze cover plate.

Does this rendition of a bronze matching grommet look better? BTW, in my preceding message, I intended to say that I cannot trust the installers to chisel the door to accommodate a new bronze latch cover. Thank God they recognized their limited skill never when they chose the easier route.

Personally, after a week you will never notice. The bolt is light colored as well and the trim ring being dark actually may bring more attention to it.

I agree that not having the hardware on 11 doors that one paid good money for is unsightly as well as irritating but to deem it as a disaster is a bit of a stretch. A tree falling on you home, a fire, flood, an invasion of Locust is a disaster. If that's the worse thing that happens to you Happy Camper you will have good reason to stay happy for life. Yes that rendition looks much better.

I agree with millworkman, I think the contrast of the dark ring and the silver bolt draws more attention than having them both be plain steel.

It is unfortunate that you are left dissatisfied. Even Bartels high-end door systems sometimes have various finishes due to the different manufacturers used and make-up of each component. Do the hinges and strike plate match the handle?
