How do I fill this space?

When we bought our house, we knew our current fridge wouldn't fit in the designated space. We decided we were okay with placing it elsewhere, as it wasn't in our budget to purchase a new one. Now we are stuck with this tall empty wall. It is pretty much a blank canvas. Any suggestions?

Perhaps you could use the wall space for functional but attractive kitchen storage - a hanging wine rack? Hanging fruit bowls? A rack for pans?

I have considered a wall mounted wine rack. I would like to keep the trash cans where they are, would it be weird to have a wine rack over the garbage? The ceiling is too high for a hanging basket.

Look into putting stock kitchen cabinets in that space and painting then whatever color you want and finishing them off with butcher block. Pinterest has tutorials on how to change cabinets into trash receptacles. You could make this a coffee bar with fun artwork over it

I have a comment and it's that whenever I try to rig a space intended for something else I end up spending just as much money as if I'd done it right in the first place. Why? Because I'm never happy and keep redoing it. Anyone else done the same thing?

I'd build some L-shaped open shelving. That would make it both useful and decorative. If you want, there could be a row or two of wine cubbies under the lowest shelf on the longer wall...

You could even put wine cubbies under one leg of the L and then a few pot hooks for your favorite or cutest pans under the other! :))

I would purchase ($175 for one below) or perhaps your husband could build a storage cabinet with a butch block top - that matches your cabinets. If you need something for recycables, I just use a rubbermaid bin under my sink that slides out which works well. Then you could add a blackboard above the unit for messages.
