You could also leave it and put hooks in there to hang your broom and apron.

There has to be some sort of ingenious, slide-out storage thing for spices or cans or something. I'm looking at Ikea now.

Ikea kitchens are meant to look like they are removable so you can take them with you when you move. As though in most European kitchens. Just paint the exposed wood & accept it for what it is.

Your ikea designer left 4" so you can open the right hand door properly. Put in the four inch filler, screwing it in from the inside of your pantry, and inset the filler so it is even with the toekick. I am wondering why the left upper is so much higher than your pantry. Also a little head molding would make things flow better.

my first thought was pullouts but that wont work because of the light switch, airvent, and door frame. I would say either a filler or I like the shelf Idea if you can get lucky and find somethign skinny enough to fit. Also like PP said some crown would make this kitchen look finished. your cabinets right now are like putting taping a picture to the wall without a frame. Putting crown up will make it looked like a framed picture.

Thanks everyone! With ikeas new kitchen line, we can get a small glass cabinet to fit on top of the pantry but just haven't yet.

I will post pics of full kitchen for those that asked. We saved about $40k doing it ourselves but definitely made some mistakes along the way.

Here are the additional pics. We have not finished the backsplash which will be white subway with dark grey grout. We also need to redo all the bottom baseboards as they keep falling off so we are switching out to real wood and painting to match.

Any advice is welcome. This kitchen used to be 2 rooms, we tore down a wall and also built into the garage. It was an original kitchen built in the 60s with lots of holes and mice as proof. We have flipped the entire house and are now moving on to the exterior.

There's not much to do with that space. A small custom pullout is out of the question because of the return vent and light switch. The best alternative is to insert a .5 inch thick MDF strip flush with the cabinet. Measure back and install furring strips on the wall and cabinet so you can glue the filler in place. Seal the filler to wall seam with a paintable silicone sealer and paint it the same color as the wall.

take it out, order a new pantry the correct size. Put the existing pantry in the garage.
