Some of the damage was caused by winter sun when the ground was frozen. If any of the damage is from insects last year, the back of the leaf will look much worse than the front with honeydew mold and dead insects.

The back of the leaves do not look much worse. What course of action do you suggest I take ?

The leaves shown in the photos will not change from the way they look now. Eventually they will fall off. The new leaves that emerge later this spring will not, of course, exhibit the discoloration from winter sun and wind. There is really no action necessary on your part. Next fall you can spray with an anti-dessicant such as Wilt-Pruf and/or erect a burlap or other type of screen to shield the leaves.
