Do you need a full sand and refinish or can you get away with a buff and coat for another 10 years of life?

You have a very airy feeling space (vaulted ceilings help) with tall windows. Your flooring can handle a mid-tone stain if you want. Personally I like a natural "clear coat" that allows the natural blond colour of the wood to show through (no need to lighten any further when working with a non-yellowing clear coat). That is me.

Technically the space can "handle" a lightly stained floor if you wish it to go a step or two richer/darker. What species is the floor?

The style of your furniture is more traditional so darker floors would be better. They would ground your space and really show off your lighter upholstered and wood pieces.

You didn't ask but sometimes eyes that don't see you home everyday can see things you are used to. You have beautiful furniture but the 3 long accent pieces on the dining room wall don't work. They look busy and are distracting. You don't need to fill every inch of wall space. Also suggest that the painting over the kitchen window is just lost up there.

Driftwood coffee table could find a home on a covered porch or patio. It serves no purpose where it is now.

Cancork Floor Inc., thank you for your professional advise! The new(er) floors, which are all but the kitchen, are #2 white oak. The kitchen floor (which is about 95 years old now) is, I believe, red oak -much prettier than the new(er) floors. They are in terrible shape although the photos don't really show it. All traffic areas the poly is pitted and in many areas completely gone. It was water based poly and has been buffed and re-coated a couple times. Unfortunately, we need the full job :-/. We are thinking of finishing the wood with either just wax or an oil based poly. I am testing an area (that was just replaced) with wax -it's really pretty and does not have that yellowed poly look...but I'm not sure how difficult it will be to keep up?

I think the current color is very nice so I'd try to keep the color close to the same.

I would keep the same color floor as well. I also agree with everything leelee said. She beat me to it.

My daughter recently bought a dining table from Restoration Hardware and they come unfinished. Anyway, we read Rubio monocoat was a good product for those tables and tried it. Hopefully, it will provide some protection as she has little kids. It does look like a very pretty finish.

Groveraxle and leelee, I appreciate the input...and actually I could really use your help with updating my paint colors in these areas. We will be painting the whole area while the furniture is moved out for the floor re-finishing.
However, the table in the corner with the lamp on it was replaced with a shorter round one- fits much better...and I prefer the lamp on in the evenings over the overhead lights when we are not using the area.
The grapevine and glass table is very handy for water pitchers, desert plates, etc. when serving meals. Being grapevine and custom glass, it's a very high end table that I wouldn't dream of putting outside. But if you think I have another piece that would look better there, I wouldn't mind trying it...
As far as the antique stained glass in that dining area -in the photos it may appear busy but in reality, without them the space looks very empty/cold and unfinished. I wouldn't be opposed to changing it to something else though !

I don't have any double mirrors anywhere so I'm not sure what leelee meant about that... By the little desk there is a big painted mirror with antique doors on either side of it with a trunk under the mirror...maybe the glass doors look like mirror in the photo? The photo below is before I mounted the doors on the wall...also there is an updated lamp shade now. (don't mind the big dog please, haha! She wanted to be in the pic apparently.)
