Saltillo/Ceramic tile OK in Austin area

Is it OK to have Saltillo or Ceramic tile outdoors in Austin Area.
I want to go with Saltillo tiles as well for my outdoor patio, partly covered and partly not covered but entire patio already has concrete slab below.

Will the freeze/thaw cycles here not damage the tile?
Any special mortar needed or used here?
Sealant used here?

    Thank you for your inquiry.

    Q. Is it OK to have Saltillo or Ceramic tile outdoors in Austin Area?

    A. Yes. The tile pictured is installed in the Teravista community in Round Rock, TX. Installation was done 2 years ago and there have been no issues with the installation. The customer was a personal friend so if there were issues I would know about it. ; -)

    Q. Will the freeze/thaw cycles here not damage the tile?

    A. If a premium modified medium bed set mortar is used in addition to a modified grout there should be no issue.

    Q. Any special mortar needed or used here?

    A. See answer to previous question.

    Q. Sealant used here?

    A. Yes. A matte finish sealant to maintain slip resistance.
