Lovely flowers, lovely pictures, thanks for sharing!!!

Thank you Donna. It feels good to have Merengue in the house! It is even more captivating than I could have imagined.
I wish I had some great breeding plans for it but I don't. It looks so stunning I don't have any ideas how to improve it.

I absolutely loved my Merengue too!! Both scapes had 6 flowers which came out symmetrically spaced with all the arms in the right place just like Chico. Mine has yet to grow leaves or roots but is still firm; this one deserves a place with my "favorites" (maybe next to Santos;-)) that stay inside all year especially as we may never get the chance again to buy another. I didn't do any pollinating with mine either but I did keep her pollen. My only regret is that I didn't order two...☺☺

Lucky you....I got...."LaPango" as a mislabeled bulb. Oh well! I enjoy your photos.

Thank you Kristi. And never know I just might own my very own LaPango... The Tango will reveal it's secrets and it's true identity in a week or so.

I hope that you received a true 'Rosario.' All three of mine (along with one 'Merengue').were the ubiquitous LaPango. If your 'Rosario' flowers true to name, please post photos. It is a Cybister that I have yet to see in person.

I do think it's just a stressed out version of Rosario. Perhaps you kept it in the fridge too long before allowing it to bloom?? Mine bloomed in December so yours had to wait a good long time on top of what ever cold treatments they received before we got them, just a guess, I don't really know. Nancy's and mine match but I can see some similarities with yours too and I think she will perform better for you next year!

I wasn't able to use her pollen on anything that took and nothing took on Rosario herself.

I believe you're right Donna. I received the bulbs from RC in April and planted them immediately. Some were pushing scapes at arrival and Rosario could have been one of them so that could explain the less than perfect form. I am just very happy to have the real thing. Even if Tango proves out to be something else two out of three ain't bad.

Kristi I understand your disbelief and I was very sceptic of the
condition the bulbs would arrive in but to my great surprise these have
been some of the best I've received from them.

I had to cancel my first order but luckily they put Merengue, Rosario and Tango still back on their list was it January-February and I got to order them then. Shipping of course was impossible at that time, too cold etc. hence the extreme date of delivery.

Can you send a newer picture with the flower more fully open? The color doesn't seem quite right and the petals aren't ruffly (is that a word? lol)

For my order of Merengue, Rosario and Tango....I got 3 "LaPango" bulbs. Very disappointing!

Hello Kristy, RC supplies bulbs from Hillegom, The Netherlands to Germany, and, possibly Finnland. YOUR bulbs will originate from another department of RC. I have little doubt, that "LaPango" is much cheaper to be produced than "Rosario". My "LaPango" survived two seasons of neglection, placed outdoors in summer, then rebloomed excellently, (as shown in "One More Cybister") after one season of husbandry indoors. The prices that RC charges for their bulbs are very similar, and certainly they do not reflect the prime costs from the wholesale-suppliers. My guess is that RC is/are increasingly humbugged by them.

I just love the pink....and the shape.

A quick update; more flowers are opening and indeed the petals are rufflier!! (thanks Nancy for this useful term.)

Rosarios of today -

I took these photos in the evening so the colors might appear a bit muted; in real life the flowers are of lovely shades of pink and old rose.

Tango has it's first flower open. Great red with stripes of green. I have to compare it to all of your Tangos. Pictures will follow...

Your Rosario is lovely, it is a unique flower with a lovely color. I ordered two and both bloomed but one now appears to be rotting (as is my one Melfi), the other doing OK, so glad I got two of them as we may never see this one again!

Thank you girls! It is very beautiful and cheerful, more so than I expected. I really hope I'd succeed growing all of these (Merengue, Rosario and Tango) for many years.
