I can't tell you what it is except to say looks like a sedge rather than a grass.

Looks like a woodrush, Luzula sp. Rush family. There can't be very many species in Washington State, see if you can find a state checklist. Not usually a problem group.

Thanks! I think trying to search for grass is what tied me up! I've just started looking at grasses and sedges. Got a lot of weeds identified ;)

Also you can see it isn't very big, it's leaves laying against one of the smaller dandelion type leaves. (Still haven't identified all the different aster family plants yet)

You can distinguish rushes from the grasses and sedges by their flowers and fruit. Rush flowers are radially symmetrical (though very small) with 3 sepals and 3 petals, not like anything you find on a grass or a sedge, more like a lily. And rush fruits are little capsules containing lots of tiny seeds, not one-seeded achenes or grains.
