Plumeria in Maryland

Hi there! I have been reading this forum a lot lately and y'all seem to be pretty big plumeria enthusiasts so I figured I'd pose my question to you. I'd bought a Nebel's Gold cutting in Hawaii in Feb '13. When I originally bought it, the cutting was about 8". I knew nothing about plumerias and lived in Virginia Beach, but I was determined. The first year it grew about a foot and a half and gave me beautiful flowers. I brought it in for the winter, put it out last summer, and it grew like crazy, but no flowers. I think it was probably rootbound and didn't get enough sunlight. Well, thus year my baby tree is almost 4' tall and I put it into a bigger pot and moved it outside once I was sure the heat was going to stay around. Now, over the winter, my tree held onto 3 leaves all winter. I've had my plumeria outside for a week now (in its bigger pot) and those three leaves have died within the last few days and gotten little holes in them. There doesn't seem to be any damage to the stem and , aside from being tall and probably not thick enough,y tree seems happy. There's even new growth already starting. Should I be concerned that the leaves up and died or do you think that because they're winter leaves anyway that it was just their time to shed off?

    The last two winters seemed to have been ok with my plumeria considering I got it with no idea what I was doing. I don't have dark places to keep it so the last two years I've just brought it in when it starts getting cold, put it in a corner of my living room and basically forgetting about it for a few months. So far it hasn't minded?

    As far as how it's currently going, the leaves have all fallen off themselves and I definitely have claw movement. I'm beginning to remember this stage from the first year and I'm getting very excited! I haven't given it too much water because it's been wet enough outside naturally, but I did pick up some Miracle Gro 10-52-10 for when things start moving along.

    I'm also excited because a friend of mine is in Hawaii visiting family and is sending me a new cutting because she knows how much I love this one. So, in a few weeks I'll have two plumerias! Hopefully I'll be a little bit more knowledgeable the second go round.
