Help identifying weed please

I know this my first post and I apologize for asking for help right off the bat, but I am honestly concerned. We have goats, and I seem to remember someone saying that this particular weed may be bad for them. Could someone please help me by taking a look and letting me know any of it's names? We live in Raleigh, NC. I'd really appreciate it.

It looks like pokeweed; is the stem reddish at the base?

Pokeweed can be poisonous to both animals and humans, but usually animals will leave it alone unless they have little else to eat. Check with your North Carolina Cooperative Extension Service people on the best ways to control this, since the roots can be very pervasive.

My 2 goats have definitely started eating it although they have a lot to browse. Looks like I'll be doing a bit of weeding today. These things are huge too.
