wish to add a 3' x 16' pane of glass onto the attic roof

renovating a 105 year old home with a steep pitched roof. Turning the attic into an office space. Rather than having a series of curb mounted skylights, I thought a cleaner look is to seal 16' x 3' dbl. paned glass close to the ridge line of the roof. capping shingles over the glass panes and the lower line of glass overlaps the continuation of shingles.. Nice, long uninterrupted glass that remains flush to the structure, thought?
