First of all, I like the identification system for your hostas's progression and source. Sweet line up - really charming with the plants on the window sill.. Whacha got hidden under that pot, Denis?? I like the clearly defined veins on Teaspoon, also. I'll have to look up Cup of Grace in the library. Wonderful name for a hosta.

Thanks Donna, but I kinda stole the system from Mocc, nothing hidden under the pot lol when I had to haul them all in I left the really big heavy pot of F.Aureomarginata and covered the emerging pips with it to protect them, I was just too lazy to put it away.

of CoG during the alphabet and had to add it to my spring order, medium sized shiny leaved upright and cupped, lovely.

Teaspoon is really cute, now I'm not that fussed about the teeny ones heck I can't get BME to grow but this is a winner I recieved it last autumn with 3 or 4 eyes and came up this year with oodles of them, shiny and cupped, seems it can grow into a nice wide clump, I am impressed with it.

Denis, it's quite apparent you love your hosta! They look wonderful! It was worth the while sheltering them!

My ADG is new from last year. I had no idea the "gourd" was so evident so early on as in your pic. Mine is not as far along yet but coming along. I'm imagining the leaves flattening out a bit during the season and the gourd/cup getting more pronounced with maturity. Yours looks fuller/older than two?

Love the pictures. I agree, Satisfaction is a monster. I bought mine last spring and it got huge for a first year potted hosta. Looks even better this year.

Satisfaction is a very fast grower even under my sugar maple and is spectacular. Great choice. Also Frosted Jade was a slow grower for me and I think I even forgot about it for a while. Two years ago I go out in early spring and noticed a giant emerging. It turned out to be Frosted Jade. Can't wait to see it this spring. Love ADG. Always an eye catcher. Nice selection of hostas.

Sandyslopes, I intend to put most of them in the ground eventually, I would ideally like them to be the size of ADG before I do. I do like having a few nearby to fuss over lol.

Adg was 2 big eyes when I got it in 2013, last year came up with 3 and this year exploded to 9 or 10 which is really good growth for something with tokudama genes I think. It has always had good cupping I suppose I'm lucky.

Satisfaction just emerged like a rocket from a silo over 4 days, can't wait to see a big clump of this, she is starting to colour up now after being inside.

Frosted Jade is a slow one I know but will be worth the wait as will be Mountain Snow.

if you want to go a third level ... use an awl ...a scratchall .. and scratch it right into the plastic pot ... it will be there forever ...

the one down side with your gorgeous new labels... is you pots can no longer be stacked... and its a PIA to lay them down ...

Think that could well be Bressingham blue. Saw one at a at a garden centre the other day and didn't think it was very blue; almost picked it up but then after seeing some very suspiciously ill looking sum and substances I decided this garden centre was not a reliable distributor.

Ken, "there is some weird veining in that first pic ..." Do you mean the Dream Queen? It has been very crinkly as it unfurls but as it pumps up the leaves it is smoothing out, I don't think that there is a problem but I will keep a good eye on "my children" lol!

I pretty much know what is in each by the pot as so many are different (shabby Chic lol) but the photos help too, buttocles well covered!

Yes the stacking is a PIA with the labels but can be done with care, yes don't be too jealous, we had a touch of summer in april which woke everything up and then went back to winter its not nice, the buds on my Spanish chestnuts got frosted and the new growth on the fucshia hedge got badly burned, all will be well but could do without it.

That's Red cadet, new this year It's sat down a little low and you cannot see the red scapes unfortunately as i just plonked it's plastic pot down into that ceramic one for now. Been impressed with it so far but will be interested to see how blue it stays

Denis, Bressingham Blue should be a solid blue colour? BB -Hosta Library the one you are iffy about appears mediovariegated.. Nice looking hosta, to be sure, laddie but haven't a clue to its identity, sorry.

Your Brother Stefan looks very nice and smooth as a youngster. I've never seen a young one before, and without the corrugation I would never have guessed it's BS. I'm wondering what mine will look like when I pick up my reserved lot from Hosta Choice.

Why is it that when I copy the entire address of Bressingham Blue on the picture page of the Library, that it goes back to the beginning of the B's, instead of where I was, at the Br's?? That's the second time it's done that. Weird.

Yes Jo that's what I was thinking, it emerged whilst it was indoors and thought it might have affected its colour. I have never seen a baby one, I will wait and see what its like when fully out and there may be an ID thread in its future, at least it doesn't look like any other hosta I have.

As for Brother Stefan, this is year two with him and he had a bit of corrugation last year (see below), he does look to be getting some corrugation today four days later, also three eyes up from two last year and more leaves which is always a good thing lol. I guess he is not a fast multiplier, get as many eyes as you can!

Oh, thank goodness Mountainy... your Brother Stefan is showing about as much variegation as mine. I was starting to become convinced that it had sported on me, while the original pips had disappeared. Mine has the corrugation, so I was holding out some hope. Still, nice to see an actual 2nd year to compare it to.
