Interior French doors - using cabinet pull not door knob?

I want to install a good size pull on both sides of my French doors but the screws will "run into each other"... ideas for setting each side a little differently and covering hole with a backplate? Other thoughts?

    You need a long screw that had continuous threads from end to end and no "head" . It goes through the door and knobs screw in from both sides.
