Hardy gingers?

Anyone growing the hardy Japanese ginger (Zingiber mioga) or even Hedychium? I know the mioga is said to be hardy in zone 6, and there are a few varieties. I'd like to grow the mioga in a shaded spot where it would look good. All the Hedychiums are said to need zone 7 or warmer, but I like to try to experiment. Is anyone growing ANY of the ginger family in zone 6 NE? Roscoea is another ginger family member that IS hardy in at least zone 6. So, just wondering if anyone has tried and succeeded, or failed.
