Others may disagree but I love cotton jersey sheets. They are warm and snuggly in winter and cool in summer--like sleeping in a T-shirt. The downside is that they don't last all that long but the upside is that they are inexpensive. After much trial and error I've found that best 100% cotton ones at Walmart. I was buying Target's brand but they were not 100% cotton and shrunk and pilled terribly.

No sheets (well, a bottom sheet). Flannel duvet cover over a down comforter, and sleep directly under that. You can really wrap yourself in the comforter w/o a top sheet. It's great. LLBean and Garnet Hill have good flannel stuff.

Crisp cotton sheets, a heavy matelasse, fluffy down comforter in a flannel duvet cover are my favorites. I keep furnace at 55F from 9pm to 5am and stay toasty warm with that setup.

I love the Company Store Velvet Flannel sheets and duvet covers. I do as Tibbrix and don't use a top sheet, just the duvet cover over a down comforter. They used to have some wonderful patterned pieces but now I see they only have the solids. They show something called Flannel Sateen, which looks to me from the description to be very similar to the Flannel Velvet. I love it because it is so, so soft and not a hint of pilling, which I really hate on flannel.

I like t shirt sheets as well. I bought some very nice ones at Lands End this past winter.

LLBean. They have great flannel, of course. I'm not a fan of flannel. I prefer percale sheets. The ones we have from LLBean (2 sets) are thick and substantial and feel great in the winter.

Another LL Bean fan. I have some that are, eh, 10 years old maybe. They still look great. I bought another set maybe 4 years ago. There were a lot of complaints, and I think they had changed suppliers. Those are now in the rag bin. I bought another set about a year ago and the quality seems to be what it was. And by the way, LL Bean offered to refund my money for the four-year-old ones, and I said "Thank you, but no, I got my money's worth."

I would never hesitate to buy anything from them. When they say "Guaranteed", they mean it.

Funny story - it was 1969. My brother was starting college in Maine. We dropped him off and Dad and I went to Freeport. Before most people knew about L.L. Bean.
My dad brought a pair of hunting pants that had worn out from hunting in briar patches - only because he wanted another two pairs because he liked them so much. They said "Oh, no, here's a pair for free because those wore out."
I bought two pairs of wool socks. I still have them after wearing them for (hang on, let me do the math) 46 years. Dang, I'm older than I feel.

No sheets as well, just a dOwn comforter and cotton PB duvet. I'm in the market for a cotton summer blanket.

For us, it's important to pair our pajamas and sheets. In our cold winters, we like crisp percale sheets and an oversize pullover sweatshirt and sweat pants with elastic at the ankles. I hate when my PJs stick to the sheets when I move, as they do on flannel sheets.

In summer, we use soft cotton sheets and, for me, a short silk nightgown with long sleeves, and hub is in his boxer shorts and a t-shirt. Nice and cool and slippery.

Also, it seems to me to be a lot easier to use a top sheet than it is to have to stuff a comforter into a duvet every time I change the sheets. I love my big fluffy down comforter and a top sheet on our king size bed.

Linen from Rough Linen. It's so much heavier than my cotton sheets were, and kept me warm all winter. So far this "summer" (we've had a few 80+ days, but now we're back to 50s) I've been cool too. It breathes extremely well and I don't wake up with damp sheets from sweating (gross, I know, but I'm 51 and sweating is what happens at night). That has been a huge benefit, as no matter how cool it was, the cotton sheets/pillowcase were always damp. In the winter, I have a linen sheet on the bottom and top, a very light down blanket and a down comforter in a duvet. In summer, I'm using the linen sheets on bottom and top, and down comforter in a duvet (no blanket). I sleep in Cool Nights (Soma) shorts and a tank top year round. Hubby doesn't use PJs.

The beauty of flannel is you don't need to wear pajamas. I sleep better without them twisting and binding. There's no warming up the sheets when you get in on a cold night. I use them from October till June. I also use a down blanket and a light comforter for winter.

We didn't need pajamas when we were young, may flowers, but now I'm 67 and Hub is 75, and we have to make trips to the bathroom during the night. We've always lowered the heat at night, and it gets cold! We didn't mind when we were young, but now it's much nicer to be in warm, soft garments for our trips. I hate the twisting of PJs, too, thus the pairing of sheets to PJs.

I use my jersey sheets in the summer, but in winter I switch to fleece sheets. I know that horrifies some people but dh and I both love them.

I can't even stand fleece jackets LOL! Good thing we don't really have winter here.
