Did I choose wrong paint color

I just repainted by living room and kitchen and breakfast area BM Grey Owl. I am wondering if I have chosen the wrong color. It reads green at times, gray at times and purple at times. Just not sure if I am liking it at all. Any ideas or opinions on a different color. It seems like the room almost seems darker to me.

    Check Wayfair.com

They have too many to choose from. :))

Ok. I am serious about the art now. Family wants me to choose something, as this will be my gift...Mark, if you have the time, could you help with a frame for the bird art above....I do love florals...your floral above was nice, but would prefer something with a little more modern look to it, if that makes sense... Not sure if I like the panels with the birds well enough to purchase....any opinions on that... Would a landscape with the right colors work???? Many thanks...

Unfortunately the bird picture is too small toletray. I posted it for color only. What I think you should do is tell us the size of the mirror ( width and height ) because you will need a picture at least that size in height and width and perhaps even larger. Then we can look for pictures. Choosing art online is not easy because colors are not always accurate, but we can try if you would like.

This is quite lovely. It's 45x45 . I goes nicely with the chairs and sofa.Adds some nice rich color. I think it would be perfect except for the carpet . It's on sale for $179.00 was $350.

Toletray, these beautiful pieces are available in square and rectangular panels.

I'm a little apprehensive about art on line. Are there no galleries in your area that you and your husband can go to together. It shouldn't be just something to fill a space but something you both love and get joy from . Take your time with this, look around, you will fall in love with it when you see it.

Natalie, love anything that Lisa Audit does... I recognize your above.

i agree in that art should mean something to you and reflect who you are and what you like, as opposed to just choosing so,etching for the heck of hanging something up.

Great inspiration all of you. Thanks for the advice. They are pressuring me here...ha

I went to limited edition prints of which there are an infinite # . It helps if you have a few favorite artists though; went to One Kings Lane to narrow the search. It may help you Toltray to try this to find what style you may like. I like limited editions because the are usually higher quality prints and are nicely mated and framed. These are nice size 40x40. May not be at all what you like. The last is a classic Chagall beautifully framed.

Thanks Marc, but I'm not really suggesting any of these in particular; I am hoping Toltray will go and find a piece of artwork that speaks to her. It's such a personal choice ,I don't want to make that choice for her.

My mistake. My name is Mark not Marc. Thanks

Take your time toletray. Everything will fall into place. You will find just the right piece.

Omg no! Grey owl is a beautiful color. I have the same in my house. It goes with everything, and I love the contrast with the warm colors in the rugs. Do NOT change it.
I'm sorry Mark, I know that by now:( must be tired!!! Just realized that last picture is too small anyways. I do love it too; just don't really know if Toltray would! Wasn't trying to be snarky.

Anyway, I still think they should find something locally because of the color issue you mentioned earlier.

I would switch the long sofa with the short and the TV hutch with the secretary. I would keep the paint as is for now but the next time I would give it an Italian look with a rustic faux painted ivory. I would switch the table to be between the new placement of the short sofa and the chair which would now be further from its original placement on the right side of the picture and instead would be on the left side of the picture you show.

    Toletray---

Check HomeGoods for a large art reproduction---I've seen some fabulous canvas prints, at very reasonable prices.

If you're looking for a OOAK, then I recommend postponing until other elements are addressed first... Rug and Cabinetry... :))

Thanks to all of you. Been out shopping all day. Trying to finalize my shopping. Busy, busy! Next stop is Homegoods today.

Lynartist, looks like beautiful pieces. Will check them all out when I can sit down again.

I much appreciate all of you and your help. Will check back in soon.

Any opinions on this garden stool?

I really think I might go with a white garden stool ...or something other than above. I am seeing too much blue in this room.

I totally agree with you, too much blue.

As I said, your room has a natural "cool" undertone---probably why the Gray Owl was not working for you.

I think a white or turquoise ceramic stool would look nice.

Be careful of too much red, white, and blue, unless you want a patriotic theme---which I highly doubt. :))

    toletray thanked Natalie

No. Don't need a patriotic theme! I really like the turquoise. By the way, I could t resist ordering the very first pillows you suggested to me,Natalie. They are on their way.

Oh that's great news. Can't wait to see them.

The turquoise stool and the white one are from Wayfair.

I think a throw on one of the chairs, and a tray on the ottoman would help break up the all the blue. :))

I think so as well, Natalie. I really am wondering if I should repaint the fireplace surround. I chalk painted it that color a couple years ago. Seems like I see a lot of dark there! Oh well. Need to keep my mind from jumping around so much, I guess. Have a good evening!!

Cant believe this warm weather we are having here. Doesn't seem at all like Christmas!

I think the surround is very pretty and fine for now. Wait until you figure out the cabinetry for that wall.

The weather is unbelievable. I'm heading north (Michigan), at the end of the week. Will be home for the holidays---kids and hubby can't wait to get out of Georgia. They love the cold weather and snow. I love snow too, but just shiver at the thought of cold weather. One thing's for sure, it will definitely feel like Christmas up there. :))

    Have a Great Evening!

The colour is quite nice and looks blueish on my screen. I think the rugs are an the major problem. I know they are Persian and you want to work the room around them, but it's not going to happen.

Matthew Pearce, this post is very, very long. Along the way, the room was repainted BM Ashwood, which I am hoping works much better with the rug.

Happy new year to you, Lynartist. Started it out by shopping dillards New Year's Day sale! Wishing you a great year, and happy decorating!

    Hi Toletray---

Hope your holidays were Great! I spent mine with the family, back home in Michigan. Weather was great, just some light snow, mild temps, and a bit of drizzle. I heard it rained quite a bit here. I'm keeping my fingers crossed we don't get an accumulation of snow or ice this year-everything seems to STOP when that happens. :))

Anyway, I would love to hear of any progress or ideas you feel like sharing with us. I know you ordered the floral pillow(s), did they work in the space?

Keep us posted. Looking forward to hearing back from you. :))

Hi Natalie..so nice of you to think of me..our holidays were great, just busy, busy. Seems like we ran for so long and now it is the calm after the storm. It was the first time I can ever remember running the air conditioning here on Christmas Day, and yes way too much rain. A little snow at least once this winter would,be nice, but no ice...we all know what happens here with ice....

i did receive the floral pillow covers. I haven't done anything with them yet. They are gorgeous florals. I will get a couple pictures of them tomorrow and post them. I haven't done much as far as decorating lately. I just got all the Christmas stuff put away and have been trying to clean.. I am sure my thoughts will return to that living room very soon. By the way, everyone who visited during the holidays loved the new furniture, thanks to all of you for, your help. I just need to,get it all pulled together now.

Here are pictures of the floral pillows.

    Hi Toletray!

    ♡ the pillows!!! Gorgeous.

Nice to hear your holidays went well and everyone loved the new furniture. The room is coming along beautifully.

Thanks for posting pics. Keep us posted Toletray... :))

Natalie, could you give me the sources for the pillows in the collection below that you put together? I would like to bring in some colors in the room other than blue and red, which I seem to have so much of. I would like to bring in that caramel/gold color some kind of way... Thanks so much. Seems like everything I get looks the same as everything else. Ha Keep in mind those floral pillows also.

    Hi toletray!

5 of the pillows are available through one etsy shop. The poppies are in a different one. The pillow with the teal background and the pillow with the poppy flowers were based on the rug I posted, as it has both turquoise and a deep blue border. Of course the art also served as inspiration. Let me know if this is helpful. :))

Thanks Natalie. I had looked everywhere for those......thought they were etsy, but wasn't sure which shop.

I was out shopping yesterday and this caught my eye. any opinions on whether it would work in my living room???? Just thought it was pretty.

It's very pretty, but, I would address the niches on the FP wall before purchasing accessories for the wall. Built-ins would look great and could be constructed at a reasonable price. If it's something you're interested in, I could elaborate more about the design, etc.. Let me know. :))

    toletray thanked Natalie

Yes. The niches on the fireplace wall are definitely something that I want to get done. I was just out shopping yesterday and thought the colors in the pictures were pretty. Ideas for built ins would,be greatly appreciated...

Good morning Toltray, the watercolor you posted is very pretty. Not sure about the size; it would have to be matted and framed. It may not be strong enough to stand up to your room. If you can return it you may want to try it though.

Hi lynartist...i just thought the colors were very pretty. Would like something a little nicer, I think. I believe I really need something a bit larger. I saw that at Homegoods... I did come home with this lamp. Not sure if I want to use it by the new sofa or here on this little table. If I have a lamp on table at each end of sofa, do they have to match? I have never been much of a matchup matchy person...just curious..

we finally have some very cold weather here in Atlanta....

Natalie, width of niches is 54 inches.....

I like that lamp, interesting. It may look nice with your blue & white lamp that you have. Sometimes blues can clash tho! Saw this pic in my idea book; reminded me of your fireplace.
