winter damage.. where are you ..

a bit of drama here.. a couple brown limbs does not mean its dying ... the rest of the plant does not seem to be off color ...

you need to fully ID a plant.. to be able to research it ... i think its a yew ... but i am not sure ..

Thank you so much to all who commented. I am in Minnesota. It was actually a fairly mild winter, but I think maybe during the coldest days, there may not have been much snow-cover for insulation of the plant. Sorry, I can't remember the exact type of evergreen... Should I cut the discolored limbs off?

I had doubts about spider mites in Minnesota until I read This! Hold a white card under the branch and shake it (the branch!). If you see anything scurrying across the card, they might be spider mites.

Spider mites are creatures of hot and dry -- it's too early in the year as yet.

And spider mites tend to hide in the interior of the plant, not concentrate their activities on the branch tips. That is minor winter dieback on a yew. Trim them off - they'll be fine.
