Get some art work on the walls to bring color and personality into the room. Go with things you like that reflect your personality so you will enjoy looking at it over the years.

I don't have a problem with the big furniture. It's comfortable which is what is important to me. Find some brightly colored throw pillows to liven it up a bit. Pull the love seat out a few inches and put some panel curtains on that window. Try to find a patterned or textured pair to bring more personality to the window. It will also tone down the darkness of the love seat. I'd move that floor lamp over there as well.

Can you place the love seat in front of the fireplace, at the same angle of the fire place, back far enough from it to still get around? Then move the TV closer to the fireplace and one of the lamps to the other side of fireplace. So it will be Lamp, fireplace, TV, lamp. Then you can relax and not have to see the kitchen. As for the chair, place it either side of sofa, wherever there is room. Then some curtains, pretty sofa pillows and a soft throw.

And if you have a sofa, I'd return it if possible, and spend the money on the pillows, etc.

Robin Watso, your daughter is adorable! I love when kids want to be in every picture. I was the same way when I was little. Now I prefer to be on the back side of the camera.

I have a couple questions before I give my ideas.
    1. Can the TV be placed over the fireplace?

    2. Could you take measurements of the furniture and the walls as if you were drawing up a floor plan for the room?

Can you take a picture of the whole room? It would help.

the plan is to mount the TV over the fire place. I want drapes from the ceiling to the floor I don't want anything in the middle of the floor and I want to want to keep the walkway from the front door to the back door. I want to get throw pillows.

Then what are you asking help with? The more specific you are, the better we can make suggestions that may actually help you.

Your furniture seems to be all lined up against the walls, no end tables & no reading lamps. Think furniture placemaent is the first thing to consider.

Would be nice to make a conversation pit. TV over the fireplace, love seat where the TV is now (with artwork above it), sofa with back to the island (where the chair is now but pulled away from the island a bit) & chair in front of the window. This way you can place a small side table by the chair & one between the sofa & love seat. You can place lamps on the side tables for reading.

This will leave the walkway from the front to back door open, place a console table on that wall with some artwork above it. Also could place a lamp on the table for some low light in the evening.

Take inspiration from your artwork for an accent color for pillows.
