Friends, we are about to begin construction of a passive solar home at 46 degrees N in Minnesota in a rural area alongside a lake on a lot featuring jack pine, oak, and spruce trees. We would appreciate feedback on color options for the siding and exterior window frame

My wife and I enjoy the way the distinctive look the architect Tony Stoll has achieved contrasting the board and batten vertical siding with the horizontal boards.

OPTION 1: We have discussed painting all the siding with a single color (likely a dark tone) and using a 2nd lighter color for trim.

OPTION 2: There is also the opportunity to play up the distinctive siding design by painting the vertical boards a different color than the horizontal, with potentially a third color for trim.

Anyone care to weigh in on preference for Option 1 or 2? If Option 2, can you offer suggestions for color combinations. It would be wonderful if you could refer us to any Houzz pages or photos as examples

Meanwhile, the window frames are currently selected to be oil-rubbed bronze color. The asphalt roofing is likely to be light colored for thermal efficiency during the summer.
