IKEA panel for panel ready dishwasher

Hi everyone, I searched the site and can't find an answer anywhere. Originally when designing the kitchen I was just going to get a regime stainless dishwasher anyways at the last a second I have now decided that I think I would rather it be paneled the problem is we used ikea doors for the kitchen in the bobydyn and I can't figure out how I would get a panel for the dishwasher do I just get a 24" door. I called ikea and they are no help.

Thanks

Most of the ikea store displays have paneled dishwashers. It's probably a door, but you should be able to go to a store and check.

I asked and they said their panel is only made for the dishwasher they sell I don't want their dishwasher I want the Bosch dishwasher so they weren't really a help

You should be able to just use the Ikea 24 X 30 door, if the size falls in the range of the panel your DW requires. Look at the specs for the Bosch, and it will tell you the minimum and maximum size of the panel for your DW. We just bought a new DW in March, and the panel we already had fell into the range our new DW required; though our panel was just a teensy bit wider, it fits just fine.

We have an Asko dishwasher and the designer/salesperson at our cab company wanted me to buy a very expensive panel from them.. Instead I bought a regular door and a drawer front wide enough to fit. I used metal plates to screw them together (use short screws!) and then put them on the dishwasher. They said it wouldn't hold and would fall apart right away. It's been about 8 years and I've only had to tighten the screws once. Not sure if it would work with the Bosch and Ikea, but might be worth looking at the measurements.

The IKEA d/w panel *is* just a door (we placed an order with IKEA recently that included the RENLIG panel-ready d/w and the door to match our HITTARP cabinets. This is the product that is in our order that is the "panel" for the dishwasher: http://www.ikea.com/us/en/catalog/products/30266381/?query=302.663.81

It is a 24" x 30" cabinet door, however you should check the specs for the manufacturer of your particular d/w model to make sure it will fit. For example we are now going to buy a Bosch 300 Series d/w (IKEA messed up our entire order so we are dumping all their appliances to reduce how much we have to deal with them so we had to look for replacements).

I found these Bosch specs re: the panel on p. 6 of this PDF: http://www.bosch-home.com/Files/Bosch/Us/us_en/LiteratureRequests/Bos_Custom_Dish_Design_Guide.pdf

They specify there that the cover panel should be 3/4" thick and 23 1/4" w x 30" tall. That means the IKEA door will not be 100% to spec but very, very close. I suspect that it is probably okay to be a tiny bit wider (I'm hoping, anyway) as long as we take that into account when we do the cabinet install. I can't guarantee it will work as we haven't done the install yet but we are going to try.

pcaya, I would love to hear how this works out for you when you do the installation. I would really like to use a stock 24 x 30 cabinet door on a Bosch 800 dishwasher, and I assumed the same thing, that a bit wider is ok.

My door is a bit wider on my Miele DW, and it is no problem. Just make certain that it fits in your space. If you have a standard 24" DW opening, it should be fine.

I'm planning to get an 18 inch dishwasher (small nyc space). would the same apply? just get a panel from ikea that works with the 18 inch DW measurements? I also asked the ikea folks and they seemed "confused" :)

pcaya, getting ready to do exactly the same. How did it work out for you?

I'm late to this conversation, but Michelle M, I'm in the same boat with an 18 " dishwasher - did the Ikea door work for you?

IKEA folks here in DC told me, "it's just a door" for the dishwasher panel, regardless of size.

@romai - yes, I did complete my kitchen project. I have an 18 inch Bloomberg dishwasher. My contractor cut an ikea panel to fit the size of the dishwasher and installed it on the front. It fits / looks great. I like it. I used the white voxtorp. I've attached a picture of my finished kitchen - the dishwasher is to the left of the sink. I think it looks seamless and just like a cabinet. Good luck - you should be able to do it!! Lmk if questions!!

Thanks so much Michelle! That's good to know. My kitchen is small (but by the looks of it not quite as small as yours!) and I'm trying to keep everything as streamlined as possible. Is the tall cupboard a fridge? Did you get a panel-friendly friendly fridge and cover that with IKEA panels as well?

One more question: you mentioned he had to cut the IKEA panel to fit the dishwasher - so the regular 18" door didn't fit? And if he had to cut it, where did he trim, along the sides? Top or bottom? Thx.

@romai - I do have a tiny NYC kitchen (but came out great!!) yes, the tall cupboard is an 18 inch Bloomberg fridge. Contractor created tpanel for that as well. On the dishwasher, there was no 18 inch option readily available - so he cut it. He cut the bottom side - which still looks raw (but no one would ever see it). And one side that he painted w a matched paint. Looks fine - would never know the difference. The other 2 sides didn't need changing. Looks great!

    @romai - send pix!

I have no pix to send yet - I'm doing a home renovation and just signed on a contractor yesterday. So everything's still in the early planning stages... When you say there was no 18-inch door option "readily available" - do you mean it was not in stock?? Because the catalogue I have shows an 18-inch base cabinet, and I'm considering the Grimslov doors which can't really be trimmed because of the style. They come in 18X20 and 18X30. Does one of these match the dimensions of your dishwasher door after trimming? Thx.

Also, I'm assuming you have a 24-inch wall oven? If so, how did you deal with that given that IKEA doesn't have an oven cupboard for this size??

i actually bought a regular sized 30 inch oven. not the 24 inch, so didnt have that problem. i used th voxtrop panels in white. i will look through my files to determine which size panel i bought for the dishwasher - voxtorp didnt make a dishwasher panel at all, so - my contractor helped me order another panel and he cut it down to size for me.
this is the oven i used.

Any of the people who tried the Ikea 30x25 panel on the Bosch 800 series DW have success?

Same question as David. I want to put an Ikea door on a Bosch 'panel ready' dishwasher. Any follow up from the people trying that earlier?

this is my 24 inch panel ready diswasher. it's a blomberg, not a bosch. my contracter cut a panel to fit since they weren't available at ikea. it is flush. i used voxtorp in white. hope this helps!

Is the door flush with the cabinets when you close it?

@Anna K.: I see you used finger/edge pull hardware. Do you find that it is adequate for pulling open the DW door? I assume that when the DW is shut, the only part of the pull you can access is the bottom, as the top would be mostly concealed by the countertop. Appreciate your input - I'm considering finger pulls for my cabinets also but I'm worried I won't be able to get the DW open.

@michelle M - Your kitchen looks great! What did you use for the panels along the sides of your refrigerator? They look a lot thicker than the 1/2 inch Ikea offers. I haven’t started my kitchen yet, but the 1/2 has me concerned it will look too thin. Yours does not!

@Ashley Pitts, just saw your comment....apologies. Yes, the pull looks exactly like on a door or drawer and it IS strong enough to pull it open or close it. I have had these cabinets like that since June 2017. Absolutely love them and they operate flawlessly and smoothly.

I thought I'd mention that I ended up getting a Porter & Charles dishwasher instead of the Bosch because the IKEA cupboard door was perfectly sized for it and didn't require any trimming. This was also the case with AEG dishwasher. The panel requirements for both were virtually identical to the IKEA cupboard door dimensions. Mine was an 18" dishwasher, but I believe the same would apply for the 24".

@michelle M May I ask - how is getting the dishwasher to open with the Voxtorp's groove top "handle"? I really want to go with Voxtorp and an integrated DW, but am concerned if I'd need fingers of steel to get that open?! Would love all feedback on how you like/dislike the Voxtorp style. I read they smudge and can't clean easily - do you find that too? I am considering Walnut for bottom and white for top. Thank you!

I find the Voxtrop to be uncomfortable to use in general. The grove is too tight, too rounded and with the high gloss version there is no friction so it would be annoying to use on a paneled DW . There are several better options.

@HU-75228262. I like my diswasher and you dont need fingers of steel at all. Attaching pix. Works smoothly. You can literally open and close w 1 finger - no prob.

Hi @michelle M, I am using the same Voxtrop panel in my kitchen as well. However. I bought the Bosch Dishwasher. The Bosch DW asks to screw to the panel exactly where there are the pre-drilled holes for the Ikea doors panel. How you guys fix that problem to install it in your DW?

    Thanks, Mason

This is my problem! Please help. There are holes where the screws are supposed to go.

Hi @Anna K. & others! Your DW looks great! I'm about to order the new Bosch Dishwasher & also want to use RINGHULT with the Blankett handle as you did! [I currently have old Ikea Abstrakt doors but I'm told Ringhult is the same].

    • I see that you that you used a cover panel, not a door like many others here have. The panel is ⅝" thick. Bosch says not to use a panel less than ¾" . Also there is no Ringhult panel. It looks like the Forbattra Cover panel is what matches the white gloss doors & since they are ⅓ the price of Ringhult, I would love to use that. Did you use the Forbattra panel?
    • For those who have used an Ikea 24 X 30" door, some have mentioned that there are pre-drilled holes in the doors where the Bosch screws go. Has anyone had a problem with that & how did you work around it?

    Thx!

@rmlny, I don’t remember exactly what to tell you. BUT. When you’re in Ikea finalizing your order, the associate working there goes over your plan with a magnifying glass and you will need to add it then. Then know exactly what you need to have. With that being said, I’m looking at my final order and the item is called: RINGHULT dr 24x30 high gloss white. Art Nr 802.667.22 $164. ( this was in May 2017).

Also, again. No problem whatsoever attaching RINGHULT door with Blankett handle to Bosch dishwasher (has to be a model made without cover panel of any sort.).

Okay I think what’s confusing you is the term “cover panel.” You will buy a dishwasher to be used with a custom “cover panel.” But in Ikea terms it’s not a cover panel (what IKEA uses that term for is big/long pieces that are and expensive and you cut them to size). For dishwasher, you will use a door 24x30 and it will fit a standard dishwasher.

@Anna K. Thx for your response! Yes, your use of the words 'cover panel' is what threw me because Ikea has white gloss panels called Forbattra which come in 25x30". Problem is they are only ⅝" thick.

Ikea dishwasher csabinet door keeps pulling off when opening and closing unit just pulls up and out of retainer slots any idea?
