Well if you have a KBG lawn like I do you might think all this rain is pretty great.

I agree that nights after work in the garden have been unseasonably unproductive this year.

Almost all of this is skipping right over our heads down in SW Colorado, where the snow pack was at 35% or so of normal. But cloudy and cold, we got.

Feels like I'm back in Maine and I didn't like it there. I certainly don't like it here! I am a non-repentant sunshine addict.

Today we're getting the rain, pretty much non-stop light rain for hours now

David, Thursday nite and Friday morning it rained like crazy a mile south of Cortez, and last nite and this morning it rained like crazy at Ignacio! All the mountains west of here are covered with snow. Hope the San Juans in your runoff got a bunch!

A cloudburst almost turned my basil into pesto, yesterday afternoon!

I had peppers, tomatoes, eggplant, and basil out on the lawn, running a sprinkler over them. While they were dripping, I noticed a change in the sky!

Lucky to have just gotten all of them under cover before I got a soaking, too. Plenty of thunder but no nearby trees or gardeners struck by lightning. Never saw hail so it might have been another case of me over-reacting ...

We've got a few cold days coming here with rain tomorrow, Steve. I'm getting so antsy to get these flats of veggies planted, too! It'll be 38 degrees here Tuesday night and I think that's a little too chilly. I'm going to make myself wait till the weekend when the night time temps start creeping back up.

I have plenty of weeding and mulching to do to keep myself busy. I finished the last of the tree planting this morning, except for one very root bound conifer that I had to do surgery on to untangle and have decided to grow on in a pot till fall. I do have some perennials to go in if I can beat the rain.

Somewhere on RMG, I go on at length about using the "plant corn when oak leaves are the size of squirrel ears" ideas. It's become fairly obvious to me that these indications can't necessarily be trusted in CO.

I planted the most surprising pole bean variety several years ago. It was Cascade Giant from Ed Hume seed. Other outfits have it, too. New seedlings volunteer every spring! I've never had bean volunteers before. I no longer have to save the seed, just move the volunteers around.

One plant showed up last week ... Unfortunately, the tractor guy ran over it ... Anyway, it's been warm enuf for a bean seed to sprout ... and, I expect more.

My gauge showed .67" this morning. I'm braced for mid-30s low tonight. This is a very weird spring. Yet, all the locals that think I'm mean because I don't sell my tomato seedlings until Memorial Weekend are finally seeing my rationale.
