Yet another slug trap

Marjorie Harris, a Canadian garden writer, writes that "You can trap slugs with horseradish plants - but you'll have to scrape them off the leaves at dawn to get rid of them." She also claims that mustard plants attract them.

Scraping them off at dawn sounds marginally easier than hunting in the dark with a flashlight! Are horseradish plants at all decorative? I'm picturing one in a pot that I can move from garden to garden. And later we can harvest the root......

We are in Seattle area and horseradish proved to be pretty invasive for us so not so sure I would substitute one problem for another. I use beer cups, ammonia spritz and sluggo and still have a constant battle. Good luck!

Horseradish can be quite invasive. It is not really ornamental but not ugly either. I grew and harvested it for several years. Any small piece of root left in the ground will resprout. Never knew it was a slug magnet. The root, ground and blended with a few ingredients makes a great mustard type sauce. BE VERY CAREFUL PROCESSING THE ROOT!
