siding and windows

We are putting on new siding and new windows on a 60 yr ranch house. Ugly pink brick half way down. Looking at dark gray siding and colored windows.Is the siding colour suppose to match the cladding on the windows, or dark siding and lighter claded windows, or lighter siding and darker coloured cladding on windows?
