Flat or Egg Shell finish for a foyer, dining room, den combo?

I have always used flat paint because I have heard that egg shell has a tendency to appear streaky depending on how the light hits it. However, I was also told that egg shell is easier to clean. I just don't want a shiny look but want the clean-ability. Any advice?

I have always used flat on ceiling and eggshell on walls. I don't think it looks shiny. It is easy to clean in my opinion, but that's all I've ever had. Being able to wipe the walls down is a must for me. That's what everyone has alway told me or talked about doing. I hope this helps.

We use flat most of the time. Quality paints like Sherwin Williams Duration, Harmony or Emerald or Benjamin Moore's Aura are easy to clean.

I've always used eggshell on walls. Never had a problem with streaking and I don't find it shiny at all.

Definitely go with the eggshell, easier to wipe clean. Flat will fade and show areas you wipe. The only exception would be if you are someone who likes to touch up your own paint frequently. In that case flat is better as it is easier to blend when touching up.

I have found that egg shell holds up a lot better and looks a better quality. It also has a subtle sheen that helps reflect light and open the space without it being shiny.

HI -- I use to use eggshell but now use pearl and I like it more . Going to try Benjamin Moore's washable flat next .Aura .... Heard good things about it .

Always flat on walls. Benj. Moore is very washable. Eggshell in baths that will get a lot of steam.
