Paint the shutters and door a turquoise color.

Paint the brick and the siding and the shutters. It may be worth paying a designer for an hour to get a color palette. Or try a store like Sherwin Williams. Get one of their exterior-specific color chip brochures. My SW store has a woman who works there who gives good color advice, maybe I am lucky. Watch a few episodes of Fixer Upper. Joanna Gaines paints brick frequently on that show. Even pros make mistakes and have to rethink a color choice so try samples and step back and look at it at different times of the day. Don't beat yourself up if you don't get it right the first time. The difference in people who have a successful update and those who have a dated looking house may be the willingness to risk making a mistake. You should also replace the black wrought iron posts with cedar or something that looks like that. The photo I am attaching is from a Fixer Upper episode. Before paint it was red brick/white siding like yours.

I love this. Thanks so much for the advice! Now if only I could get Chip and Joanna over here! :)

I would consider the consequences of painting brick before doing so.

Maybe a softer color for the siding would be enough. I rarely recommend
painting brick (although I do understand staining brick may be more
doable and less maintenance down the road.) Not sure why this is posting several copies of my inspiration pictures.

I really like that first house also- seems doable! Thanks for sharing.
