How do you achieve “warm” lighting with under cabinet lights?
I have a similar color scheme for my new kitchen design. I am struggling with lighting for under the counters, as so many lights are blue-ish in color and cold. Can you tell me how you achieved this warm lighting? Is it fluorescent, xenon, etc? How many watts? Where should I look for this kind of lighting to be "warm"....thank you!

If we are talking about a remodel and new sources for electricity than I would suggest a few options:

1) Sea Gull Lighting Ambiance LED- this is a continious loop of low voltage wire connected to remote transformer. The disadvantages are that it is an expensive system, and the bulbs are not incased behind a shield. But this is a very nice system and gives a continual light for a great lighting effect.

2) Jesco Lighting DL-Flex system. This system has a very customizable parts lists.
There is a thin aluminum channel that houses the LED strip and you have an option of a clear or frosted lense. Also a very expensive system but since it is totally enclosed it is easy to clean and has great continious light.

3) Lehi Tech lighting - These are self contained linear strips that have the LED bulbs incased in a clear and alumium oval tube (also avalible in frosted). They come in standard sizes but can be ordered to your desired length. If you stay with the standard sizes this is a good cost product.

4) GLM lighting Lumentask 120v LED undercounter lighting.
This is the simplist system they come in 3 sizes, 8" 16" and 24".
The housing is similar to your standard fluorscent fixture with a metal housing and a frosted glass lense, but the lighting is LED. The 120v connection is simple to install. The only disadvantage is it is not dimmable.

5) Wac lighting LEDme Light Bars 120v LED undercounter lighting.
This is the simplist system they come in 3 sizes, 8" 16" and 24".
The housing is similar to your standard fluorscent fixture with a metal housing and a frosted glass lense, but the lighting is LED. The 120v connection is simple to install. These are dimmable but more costly than the GLM Lumentask stated above.

we have undercabinet lighting in our new kitchen. it's wonderful. it works on a dimmer as well so you can use it as a nightlight. the light is LED and lasts longer than most other kinds.

they're Kichler. since we had them installed, there have been updates--so you may want to check at your lighting store and see what works best for you. ours has a dimmer too.

The first thing that needs to be addressed is your budget. Although LED is the newest option for undercounter lighting it is also the most expensive for a kitchen application. The other option I would suggest for warm lighting would be Zenon. There are several manufacturers that make both of the lighting options mentioned above and have many different configurations depending on the application required for your project. If you are simply trying to replace existing fixtures than the question is all about the existing wiring. If you are in the construction phase than your options are much less limited. I would love to give you some more exact lighting products, if you can give me some more information on your project.

Renaissance, what lighting would you recommend for a remodel, and we do not have existing lighting under cabinets. We need more work light but do not want them to get too hot. We also love the look of under counter lighting at night for ambience. Thanks!

In a few weeks I'll put in new kitchen cabinets in an entirely new (rebuilt) kitchen that has a sort of undated 1930's look. I'd like to have undercabinet and accent lights - but generally like the light temperature (color) of incandescent rather than LEDs. It would be nice to have them on dimmers, too. Any special thoughts?

Purchasing "LEDs" doesn't have to mean that your lights will be a fluorescent color! Many LED companies sell a wide range of colors, including the warm incandescent color that you are looking for.

We sell a warm white that is 3200K, which would be similar to what you are describing and environmentallights.com (above) also has products matching the color you want.
All of our products are dimmable- we have both hardwired and plug-in options!

Hello. I'm hoping someone can offer their opinion. Our house is near done being built and the electricians installed our under cabinet lighting, they used:
*GLM lighting Lumentask 120v LED undercounter lighting

It does look nice in most areas of the kitchen, I especially like the warm light. However, I have a section with cabinets that do not have a lip on the bottom so I can see the entire light fixture b/c I am on the petite side. Keeping cost in mind, my options are:

* to switch all under cabinet lighting to these (they aren't as tall in height)

*have the cabinet maker create a wood trim kit

I simply want to not see the fixture entirely and I want a warm light. Which would you go with?

Actually, currently installed is not the LED version of GM Lighting but the Xenon 120V.

Stefani, I would install a trim kit. It would not only hide your lighting....it would look nice as well.

The LED fixture is much less deep. But if you have already installed the new fixtures than I would agree that an under counter molding would work great.

I am remodeling. I have 12" 16" 33" and 19" cabinets. Should the under cabinet lighting go end to end of each cabinet? Confused as to what length to buy under each cabinet. We do want LED lighting.

Can we revive this conversation for some updated options? I am looking for warm 2700K hardwired LED under cabinet lighting that is encased(easy to clean) and the lease noticeable. Hoping to find strips that are thinner as opposed to the bulky plastic ones that may show a little. I only have 3 cabinets that have a place for under cabinet lighting. Anyone love their lighting? No plug-ins or options with a switch please.
