Thank you for your comments. We are removing the track lighting and one of the fans. We will update the other fan as well. We are adding at least 3 pendant lights above the island. The fire place looks grey in this pic but it is red brick and goes well. I didn't consider that the built ins didn't go. I will have to consider taking them out.

what are you replacing the track lighting with?

I second the soft yellow. It looks lovely with this tile. I hope you post after pics...it's a lovely space.

We will not replace track lighting. We will be removing it. I think we will pick the wall color when the granite is in. A soft yellow might work but I hate yellow :)

I don't like yellow either! We have saltillo tile and walls in Navajo white, which is basically a white with yellow undertones. But that's also in a room that gets a lot of light, so it could look totally different (and more yellow) in your space.

We went with Stone Lion from Sherwin Williams - looks like a light grey in the room which is perfect. We opened up the built ins and for now (taking off the middle doors), painted the fireplace mantel black - will replace at some point. I also sanded all of the trim in the house and darkened it. Replaced the island laminate with a granite and kept the kitchen cabinets a maison blanche from sherwin williams. Still a work in progress. I'm glad we didn't go with yellow in the room. I like a more rustic/industrial feel. The rest of the house was painted in interesting aqua which goes well with the saltillo tile and transitions to the kitchen well.
