I suppose this is a pretty unpopular thing to do as I see a lot of people trying to cover up the concrete if their fireplace is already made of this material, but we like modern/industrial design. I have found concrete tiles to be quite pricey so I'm looking for other options in concrete that would work to surround the fireplace and go all the way up to the ceiling. Also, is it possible to make a 'veneer' out of cinder blocks and attach the veneer to the wall? I have found concrete block top caps, but they seem awfully thick at 2". Thanks for your help!
