In our new house we have approximately 13,000 sq ft are we need to landscape, this is a combination of small front yard area (12 X 50) and sloped side yard which is about 10,000 sq ft (this area is cut into 3 flat areas for kids to play) and slopped back yard which is similar size of front yard. House is on hill side and top of the hill is our yard. I thought of hydo seeding the entire area, but then i realized maintenance and sprinklers would empty my pockets monthly. There are some irregular areas, sloped areas. I am not an expert at landscaping or DIY person. Would appreciate any and all ideas/suggestion on a low maintenance yard please. We have small kids so trying to keep it kid friendly.

I am thinking of using ground covering plans on all sloped areas, which will be easy to maintain with drip system, so sprinklers don't create a run off from the rocks into the house back yard, any other suggestions for this and the rest of the yard?
