Yesterday...

Yesterday was an awesome day! I am still bursting with excitement and just had to share with my fellow plume-a-holics. I was so fortunate to get the opportunity to visit a long-time hobbyist and get a tour of the garden. I saw trees of all shapes and sizes and I got a bit of history and background on each one. It was just breathtaking. My wish-list got longer :)

Meeting another kindred spirit and just being able to talk shop made my day. I was there for a good hour. I'm usually not that talkative so even my wife was in disbelief about me being able to hold a conversation for that long! :)

I know that the many of us value our privacy and don't necessarily want to turn our backyards into Disneyland for strangers to walk thru so I left the names out of this post. I think we all know that the Aloha Spirit lives in many folks in this hobby and many of us have experienced that Aloha Spirit first hand. I feel very fortunate to have found this hobby and this forum to share with.

Tom, it is one of the best experiences you can have as a plumie junkie to visit a long-time grower's collection! And many a spouse is astonished by how much we can talk about these plants, LOL. (Mine usually wanders off when even his deep well of politeness is used up.)

Glad you had a great time! You're in a good area to meet like-minded people.

Glad you had such a positive, warm experience as there are some very nice plumie people out there, truly showing the spirit of what "Sharing the Aloha" is about.
Did your wife go with you? If she did what did she think with the plumie jungle?
There are some gr8 people in your area (I won't mention them to protect their plumie patches..lol).

James - My wife did not go to see the plumie jungle. She would see and then say how "easy" it is to grow and then ask why I have so many. She would agree with Bill's "..they'll grow into trees some day" comment and I wouldn't be able to get my fix :)

I'm going to wait for the blooms and slowly introduce her to why each one is unique and looks and smell differently and all are must haves :)
