I have to agree with David. Nothing brightens a room like white... Especially on the ceilings. I would go with Benjamin Moore Ultra White CC-10 in matte finish on the ceiling and BM Oxford White CC-30 in semigloss on the trims and doors. For the walls, I like to go a touch green rather than yellow because I find it freshens the space. A tiny if yellow warms the space. I'd recommend Benjamin Moore Olivetint 519 in eggshell finish.

also am a BIG fan of the white ceiling,and then colors soft but bright,here are 2 pics of the net,in the first you see also lots of white curtains to make the most of that wall,and the second is mainly white,wether a light colored sofa works for you,i suppose depends on your situation and 1 of a room i just redecorated,painted the beams and the ceiling pure white,wallpapered some walls in yellow and did the other walls off-white...
