Can I install a large TV over wainscoting?

We plan to eventually have a large TV wall-mounted in our rec room, and our builder is asking if we would like to put any kind of paneling or wainscoting around the walls. I'd like the room to have a nice finished look and I think that would help, but can we then later hang a TV on the wall with it partially overlapping it? Is that a design no-no?

You can have them add wood under dry wall where you plan on mounting TV. That will help mount TV. Not sure what you mean overlap,mod you mean trim on top?

Thank you...imagine the wainscoting that you would have in a dining room, going 1/3 up the walls...and then imagine hanging a TV on the wall that partially overlaps it. I'm just wondering if it will look awkward and if maybe we should only do paneling on the three walls where the TV won't be?

that would be more awkward. as long as you have a flattish trim on the top of the wainscoting it should be fine to overlap it.
