Two quilts finally finished!

Here are two quilts I just finished this week.

This one is a stack & whack variation called 4 patch posy. I am a little disappointed in the kaleidoscope blocks - I think the fabric should be either less busy or not a directional print. I'm planning to keep this one - it's lap size.

I had an extra block so used it in the back.

This one is a gift for my hubby's boss's son & DIL. They are having their second baby next month. The pattern is Playful Rings from Artelas Quilts. It's really just 9 patch & snowball - the rings come from the color placement.

The backing is the same as the border fabric. I also used the corners cut off the snowballs in the border. Here's a closeup.

Donna, I see no reason to be disappointed. Both quilts are great. I think I see what you mean about the kaleidoscope blocks. Although the print has many different colors and patterns, it's quite homogenous in its spacing. There are no "empty," or background, spaces. Maybe that's what you're sensing. That being said, the colors are great, and the quilt is happy and bright.

Your baby quilt has elements of an I SPY quilt. That pattern really looks complicated to me. It definitely takes planning. It is adorable. The animals are so sweet. Very nice work on both of them.

I love both of the quilts. Making baby quilts is fun and it's nice to be able to finish a small quilt and move on to something new.

Donna, I can see what you mean about the first quilt being busy, but it still comes together as various looking blocks. Maybe a little larger scale of print on the fabric? I think it looks fine! You really had to keep your wits sharp on the interlocking chain link/celtic twist baby quilt.......good job!!! I really like the animals in it.

Thanks, everyone! Lois, I think you hit the nail on the head - a print with more background space would be more successful. But it is bright and cheerful!

Of course I discovered when I took the pictures that the seahorses are swimming one direction on the front and the other way on the back. Grrr. Oh, well, too late to fix it now! This is the quilt that I posted about where I had one long border and about one row of blocks quilted and decided to take it out and starting over. I'm sure not going to do it again! LOL

Both of the quilts are wonderful! I especially like the animal Snowball blocks in the baby quilt --- so cute! Nice work!

I love both quilts! I have done a few stack and whack quilts and am always amazed how they turn out. The other baby quilt is so cute - it does remind me of an I-spy. Well done!
