Something frivolous I always wanted but will probably never own because I don't have the space and I feel silly for even wanting one: One of those globes that opens up into a bar.

Those globes are a classic! Can't feel to bad wanting one.

Stephanj, feel free to run with it! I still need to figure out how to finish off the fabric inside a bit stabler since right now it's just pinned. I'd keep ours in the freezer, but I barely have room for the bookcase let alone a freezer that can hold it all, lol!

Cool idea! If we ever finish our kitchen, our laundry/pantry/beverage area will also include a sink area for use as a wet bar plus alcohol and wine storage. I didn't know that should be kept on the down-low.

Edited to change wet bag to wet bar. I'm not in the bag already. Really, I'm not. :)

Infinity, my parents have one of those globes that opens to a bar. They've had it since I was a kid. I forgot all about it as it is in a corner of my father's den, so I never notice it anymore when I'm there. In fact, I just asked my kids if there was a big globe in their grandpa's den, and my 14 y/o said, "yeah, and there's wine in it." LOL. I'm sure it's actually liquor that is verrrrry old as he only really drinks wine these days and doesn't keep it there!

We turned a dining room into a Pub/Media room. It is magic! Kitchen is just across from this magical place with plenty of storage for liquor and glasses.

Funkycamper, not taboo, just not commonly included, probably because it's not as exciting as all the cool features and clever storage people here come up with! Our problem is we don't drink much, so all the bottles stay around forever and need a home!

If anyone wants details on how to do this, I'd be glad to assist.

Very nice!! Ours is in the fridge and the freezer in our pantry. We wanted to store it out of the kids reach and we have a child lock on the pantry to prevent pilfering. As they get older though, we will have to come up with some other solution.

Funny, Williamsem. I guess I never really thought about it. We like to entertain and it makes sense to have a nice space to prepare drinks and store everything in one general location so it's ready to go. Currently, I have to go to some effort to retrieve the bottles and glassware, create a place to set it out, yada yada. It's annoying and I always forget something. I figure the easier I make things for myself, the more often I'll feel like entertaining and offering up a glass of wine, martini, cosmo, or whatever else I have the makings for.

So it's all about function. Yeah, that's the ticket. Function.. :)

We used to keep booze in the cabinet above the fridge - you know, the one you need a chair to reach? What a pain!

Post kitchen reno, we gained enough storage space in the kitchen to house small appliances that were in the cabinet portion of my china hutch. Now I put liquor there. It's behind the dining table, so not terribly convenient, but we don't drink a lot, so it's fine.

The fabric looks great w your wall color. Well done!
