The inside of the dishwasher seal area should be flush with the front of the cabinets. If the cabinets are plumb and level, the dishwasher will be also when they are flush. Raise the feet on the dishwasher to make a minimal gap between the top of the dishwasher and the bottom of the countertop.

Modern dishwashers are attached to the sides of the cabinets/panels, not to the countertop.

Be careful to leave enough gap at the top so condensation doesn't drip down onto your control panel.

It is my understanding the DW should attach to the sides, not the top.
