Paint all the horrible oak trim and walls. I can always spot a house built around that time. Everything is oak , tan and brass. Look up painted oak cabinets on google.

I agree, I'm in the same dilemma with our 2001 home. Oak cabinets, oak doors, and oak trim everywhere! At least the floors are maple but they basically matched all the oak so we just had those stained darker. Now I'm trying to convince my husband we NEED white trim! Plus, I'm researching painting the kitchen cabinets white or staining them darker. However, this would be a HUGE project for me to do!

Michelle...as a pro posting and listed on Houzz, I gotta tell you...almost all those pretty pictures on here came from the pro's portfolios. That means we are all putting out our very best...it's a possibility (though slight) that we will get work from our efforts and beautiful pictures. Unless a transformation is truly stunning? It isn't getting a professional photo shoot or put in a portfolio. Try using other defining words. Try "paint+golden oak" in images and see what come up. Get creative in your search and work it. Good things come to those who wait...better stuff is there for those that go out and get it!

We are remodeling 1990 home. Here is kitchen before and after

I used the ikea tool to design layout . We did a lot of the work ourselves. Took out drop ceiling redid with smooth finish on walls pushed left hand wall out a foot. We did the demo work some of the framework, insulation, hanging drywall and then refinishing to get smooth finish. We also did the tiling, painting, and assembling cabinets. The contractor installed new windows and installed cabinets. Another contractor did counter top. Our contractor also fabricated the large picture window. It is hinged at the top and swings out. Cost in total with all appliances (except the fridge), lighting, labor, cabinets, windows, granite countertops etc about $22,000.
