I agree with turning the area rug. Do you have two the same?

My home was also built in 1910, and we know the folks building them couldn't even envision TV or dishwashers or central heat and air. I solved it by moving the TV to the bedroom since I never watch it anyway, but it doesn't look like that is the case here.

I think you have the best seating arrangement here, unless you want to go to a smaller TV and put it where the chair is now. I would not turn the rug.

I would do something with that TV wall to eliminate the clutter. Typical craftsman built-ins would suit the space well, with the TV where a fireplace would normally go, and closed cabinets for all the assorted stuff.
