You are going to have a problem with a gabled roof over the door because of the way the roof of the white part of the house extends over it. You need an architect, as I doubt this project would be easy to do without it looking funny. (I'm not convinced you can do it at all without a funny result.)

You have a standard ranch, with nice proportions. You don't want to end up with a funny-looking cottage with an odd roofline. If you want a cuter look, try painting the house a pastel color and planting a ton of flowers or flowering shrubs.

Hmmm didn't notice the overhang, thanks for pointing that out. I was hoping to get a design firm to help me design the front porch roof line. I'm not a huge fan of the shed roof over the porch.
