You can do a darling cottage thing with a few simple steps. Look online at prowood market online for wooden brackets - brace just the center gables and the entry overhang coming forward perpendicular to the street .. .the dark white of the stone and its weepyness match the windows .. consider a mod cottage color . . navy on the siding with the dark white trim and door and roof ..an apple green door . . these simple additions and bold color choices . . .it will feel like a new place. .. you can slowly add classic Cleaver landscape touches .. nearby flower garden .. convert some of the flat lawn uptop with masses of flowering bushes . layered taller at rear, picket fences, arbor over a new walk to the front door in white brick like pavers or flagstone set in dg or thyme - one vertical vine somewhere . . but you could do a mod cottage arbor or pergola

Kelly - unfortunately, not much. Choice #1 would be to have the brick replaced with a light beige/taupe & light gray/blue stone or stone veneer. Then, paint the house a dark bluish/gray. Choice #2 would be to grind or sand off the "weeping" part of the mortar, repaint the brick white, and still go with a darker bluish/gray on top. A new roof would be more earth tones, instead of the flat white color.

libradesigneye - I have been thinking about a darker bluish/gray on top (see my response to Kelly above). You also have a good idea regarding landscaping. Perhaps a change around the base of the house would better "hide" the weeping mortar brick better.

My suggestions would take you in a cottage direction. There are some mid century modern bones here if you didn't have wainscot . . but covering it still keeps you wainscotted .. that is why I suggested mod cottage .. if you will live in this house for your entire lifetime, OR the roof requires replacement due to age and maintenance considerations, change the roof. Otherwise, you will never get your $ back from changing it out.

Doing a smaller entrance garden surrounded by picket fence on the flat area . . taking 1/3 of the distance to the road and filling it with flowering shrubs, seasonal bulbs, herbs for the kitchen and groundcover will take a fraction of the cost of a new roof but completely transform the experience of the visitor or neighbor . . landscape / landscape design and paint nearly are always the least expensive shift that can give you a great return on investment.

if you want a deep blue gray but not to go all the way over to navy . . consider bm wolf gray . . and a sunny yellow front door .. .add white enamel nautical inspired light fixtures ..
