My sentiments exactly. Those large gaps are havens for insects and dirt. Although I love the wood chosen for the staircase and floors, that gap is disconcerting and makes it look unfinished. Is it?

I think this house is in Scandinavia, or built by someone familiar with Scan design and construction. Check the license plate on the car, the art piece in the living room and the appliances. That gap is typical in those countries. I'm surprised it doesn't have ceilings in wood planks!!!
